What is BIM?
Building Information Modelling (BIM), is an intelligent 3D model-based process. It gives AEC professionals the insight and tools to create and manage building and infrastructure projects faster, more economically and with less environmental impact.
BIM is rapidly becoming the standard process for construction. Informed clients and projects teams want to use BIM, as it addresses many of the problems associated with outdated paper-based processes.
Benefits of BIM include:
- Increased productivity and efficiency
- Improved project outcomes
- Reduced cost and risk
- Better collaboration and coordination
- Reduced rework.
Instead of producing 2D documentation to build a building, at DCT Group our process is simple.
We first build a virtual 3D building in our leading edge industry software. This enables us to understand the design and ensure the functionality of the building. From there we can automatically generate the documentation required from the building model. In this virtual building, people can navigate, explore, analyse and query information. This enables all parties involved in the project to make sure they understand the design, see that everything works and fits together and resolve any issues before they build physically on site.
