Dublin Airport Hand Baggage Upgrade

About Project

The project required upgrades to Dublin Airport Terminal 1 & 2 hand baggage systems which consisted of retro fit projects. All areas consisted of phased decommissioning and replacement of existing EDS and the additional of new EDS and conveyor lines, and all associated civil, structural, mechanical and electrical works.

There were significant structural alterations which included many new mezzanines and platforms and in some cases the load-bearing capability of the existing steelwork structure was increased to support larger and heavier equipment.

To connect Terminal 1&2, a new building was being built to connect the two, the baggage control building.
As all works occurred in a live operational environment, the phasing of the works had to be carefully planned.

TESTIMONIAL
Mark Duffy, Regional Director
“SUIR Engineering Ltd engaged the services of DCT on the WuXi Biologics project in Dundalk. DCT BIM design team were responsible in developing a coordinated 3D model for the Electrical and Instrumentation services in the DK 2 building. It was their responsibility to supply enough information to the SUIR Construction team to fabricate and install the items as per the intended design. The DCT BIM team had full responsibility to update the BIM model for all components, containment, devices & equipment and ensuring correct space allocations are applied for access and maintenance.”
