Without technology, including BIM, the building industry will struggle to meet demand—all the more so given its lagging productivity and growing labor shortage.
ISO 19650 Certification
ISO 19650 is an international standard for managing information throughout the life of a built asset through the use of Building Information Modeling (BIM). It is compliant with all of the BIM Level 2 principles and high-level requirements and is closely aligned with the current UK 1192 standards.
The BRE ISO 19650 BIM certification scheme for businesses determines if your organisation is capable of delivering projects in accordance with ISO 19650. This entails evaluating processes, procedures, people, and projects.
The certification enables you to demonstrate your BIM capabilities to clients and competitors worldwide. When certification is granted, you will be listed on the BRE website and will be able to promote your certification using the BRE global certification mark.
As a result, it’s unsurprising that the UK government requires ISO 19650 certification for all centrally procured public projects, including all digital documentation and asset information. According to the NBS National BIM Report 2017, 62% of the construction industry is already leveraging BIM workflows, but a sizable portion has yet to adopt or is unsure how.
Does this mean that all SMEs and private projects do not need to implement BIM?
Not at all; while BIM adoption is not mandated in the private sector, the benefits outweigh the costs and can give your firm a competitive edge over other suppliers, potentially determining whether you win a bid or not.
Acquiring third-party BIM certification from BRE Global (the certification arm of BRE Group), an independent and globally recognised authority in the construction sector demonstrates to your existing and prospective customers that your work continues to meet national ISO 19650 certification standards and that they can trust you to deliver an excellent build.
Why choose BRE ISO 19650 Certification certification?
BRE was at the forefront of research that established the need for a standardised construction methodology and influenced the development of UK construction standards and BIM itself. Additionally, we recommend the BRE Global certification for the following reasons:
Not Just Verification
The scheme not only assesses ISO 19650 Certification capability against PAS 1192:2-2013 it also seeks evidence of correct application at project level.
Assessed by the Best
All assessors have a wealth of experience in their respective industries.
Become an Expert
Deep knowledge of BIM obtained through participation in the preparation of the government’s ISO 19650 Certification documentation.
Simple process with full feedback through all the different stages.
What are the benefits of ISO 19650 Certification Certification?
Along with gaining recognition for adhering to the highest UK construction standards, being certified by BRE Global entitles you to the following benefits:
– An unbiased assessment of your internal processes and workflows, identifying opportunities for improvement.
– Confirmation that your processes are being followed correctly during project work.
– BIM Level 2 compliant project delivery, as well as the associated knowledge and experience.
– Demonstrate your capabilities while also providing peace of mind to your customers.
– Independent confirmation of compliance with ISO 19650 Certification (PAS1192-2:2013) for all subsequent PQQs.
– A significant competitive edge in your field.
Where to start your BIM journey
Two routes to BIM Certification to suit your BIM maturity.
The path to ISO 19650 certification consists of two critical steps: first, an assessment of your company’s documentation and processes to ensure they comply with ISO 19650; and second, an assessment of your company’s implementation of these processes on BIM projects via an onsite audit at your offices.
These two steps can be completed concurrently (if there are projects available for assessment) or separately, with certificates issued at the conclusion of each (if you need to phase the process to allow time for appropriate projects to become available). If you choose the two-step approach, you will receive a certificate at each step, one for “BIM Prepared” and another for “ISO 19650 Certification for Businesses.”
Though 97 percent of industry professionals are aware of BIM, the methodology’s complexity has deterred firms from adopting it. We understand that obtaining ISO 19650 certification may appear to be a large project to begin, but our specialist team has a track record of successfully assisting businesses in obtaining and maintaining this certification.
